Mendel Letters 4: Do You have Email?
Hard copies of these typed letters were discovered in an old camp trunk in the basement storage facility of one of the few buildings that remain standing in this Brooklyn neighborhood. The building is quite decrepit and is scheduled for demolition. The letters were found in November 2048 by a teenager who believes they were written by his great-grandfather. The letters are addressed to Mendel, the letter writer’s father, who appears to have been dead for at least six years when his son, whose name we are unsure of, started to write him. The son appears very agitated in some of the letters. With permission from the family, we are publishing them on the date they were written, only 28 years later.
There was no letter to Mendel from his son dated November 14 and or November 15. Letters dated November 16 and 17 were severely damaged by water seepage and unreadable.

Dear Mendel,
Do they have email where you are? Please talk with administrators. It would make it much easier to send letters.
Sometimes justice is done in a particularly funny way. Donald Trump’s grandchildren were withdrawn of their very posh and expensive private school in a Washington DC suburb after complaints from other parents that Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner refuse to obey COVID protocols like wearing masks at Trump campaign events and maintaining social distancing in a heavily infected White House. The tuition for the three kids was almost $100,000 a year. Maybe Jared and Ivanka can donate the money to Grandpa Trump’s legal defense fund once he leaves office and is subject to prosecution.
Meanwhile soon-to-be former President Trump screams louder and louder on twitter that his defeat in the Presidential election was a “scam” and “fraud” and he was really elected President. The country is in for a rocky ride the next two months. Glad you missed it.
Please remember to check on the availability of email.
